Reception Rand Farm Park Trip
On Wednesday 12th June, Reception went on a trip to Rand Farm Park.
Our topic this term is “Farm to Fork” so we visited the farm to get first-hand experience to see how all the different animals are cared for. First, we got to meet the cows, goats and sheep in the barn. We were allowed to feed them some pellets remembering to keep our hands flat. Some of the goats were rather lively! We then got to take turns at feeding milk to the lambs. They were very hungry and we had to hold on tightly to the bottles.
Later we saw the chicks in the hatchery as well as several breeds of chicken. Then it was milking time and we watched two of the cows have their udders milked by a special machine. Finally, it was time for a bumpy tractor ride across the fields where we same many sheep and some alpacas. After all that rather tiring learning, a few of us fell asleep on the coach on the way back to school
